Hey friends, how is your week so far? mine is like pushing a wheelbarrow without a wheel. You all know how it is to be a student  " time is  chasing a sun". Anyway I want to introduce you to the new world of public relations and communication, what you have to do now is to take a minute and delete also to say goodbye to all other careers, you won't need them after reading this blog.

Do you want to study public relations, if yes here are some tips to consider when studying PR: the first thing to look at is your personality, you better like people, because you will be dealing with them most of the time and be open-minded.

When you decide to study PR you have to know that your job is to get the free publicity for your company, remember you're accountable for getting your company's name and image out to the public.

You have to ensure that you're good public speaker, you must able to make good relationships with people, because you will do lot of public speaking, been interviewed on radio/TV and arranging press conferences. On the other hand you must have good writing skills, you will be writing lot of press releases and newsletters.

You better learn how to dance, because you must have energy and able to work under pressure and always keep a smile on you face.

  1. Public relations looks as an interesting field one has to choose looking at all those aspects you have named but I have one question which is salary concern. as a PrP are you getting well paid and what is the start salary which one can receive and where will I work as a PRP?

  3. Thanks for your comment, it depend on what field you in or the company, I can’t really say the exact amount. And you can work at media companies, communication flied even at event ( be a event planer)

  8. @ Amukelani, yes you can still do or study public relations and you can focus on been a spoke's person of you company or be in media company however is important to have skills and able to work with people, because you have to build and to create relationships with people.

  9. I agree with you Tryphina public relations is a challenging field but yet interesting because it seems to have a little bit of every career like advertising, journalism and marketing so yes people should go for it and study public relations.

  10. Public Relations is very unique course....i attended a seminar yesterday and i was actually fascinated with the qualities that this course entails. tryphinah should one have good writing skills if you want to do public relations as a course?

    1. yes, because they expect you to write newsletters and news release. so you have to have skills and know how to structure newsletters and news releases.

    1. picture the world without communication or with one way communication, where by the audience or recipients are been manipulated by persuader, and they playing with their emotions or not involved in the conversation at all, so the role of PRP is to be the voice of the voiceless and gives everyone the opportunity to say what they want to say without fear of anything.
